Customizing your Home Page Widgets

Purpose: Customize the different widgets that can be shown on the homepage for each role.

How to Access: Administration > Control Panel > Appearance and Themes, and then select each center to customize the different options.

In this section, you can configure which roles have access to the different widgets on the Home Page. The last column determines in what order these widgets will be shown (please note that some widgets cannot be shown to specific roles). This selection can be set at the center scope, so when selecting a center from the list on the homepage, you can see different widgets based on the configuration. For example, you could decide not to show the “News Information” widget for the Center X and Center Y while you do want to show it for the rest.

Note: The screenshot above is for illustrative purposes as more widgets are added over time.

See an example of a homepage that someone has enabled widgets (Upcoming Appointments, Messages, Appointment Viewer, etc.) and created a unique HTML College News and Center News section using the available WYSIWYG editor:

Entering your College News

Purpose: Edit the information displayed in My Homepage (What users see when they log in to the back-end of Accudemia) under College News or Center News.

How to Access: Administration > Control Panel > Announcements

This step is used to inform the users about news at the college and the centers. An example of relevant College/Center announcements could be showing the hours of operation and relevant upcoming events.

To create your College News, do the following :

  1. Go to Administration > Control Panel > Announcements.
  2. Select the correct scope, and you can create “News” for both the college-wide scope and/or the centers.
  3. Write your News in the WYSIWYG editor (defined below), this is a powerful editor that supports images, video, and multiple formatting as needed so you can create media-rich content.
  4. Click Save Changes
TIP: In web development, a WYSIWYG editor (an acronym for “What You See Is What You Get”), is a system in which editing software allows content to be edited in a form that resembles how it will look in appearance when it is printed or displayed on the web as a finished product. This can be similar to preparing a printed document in MS Word or preparing a slideshow presentation in MS PowerPoint. In this case, you are preparing a section that will be displayed in the College News and/or Center News widget(s) on the Accudemia homepage with a live preview while you prepare it to be published.
