Computer Labs

How to Access: Center Visits > Computer Labs

Purpose: “Computer Labs” features are used to allow registered students to sign in to a computer; it also provides for staff/administrators to see the usage details of each computer.

Computer Lab Student Sign-in/Sign-out

After the Computer Lab has been set up, students can now sign in and use the computer.

Users need their IDs to sign in. Once they type in their ID into the system, they can click on SIGN IN.

The Student will then be directed to the computer's desktop page (or the default page).

A pop-up window will appear with the student's name and the amount of time the student has been on the computer.

Students can also sign out of the computer by clicking the Sing out button on the pop-up window.

Computers Labs Main Menu

From the Computer Labs Main menu, we can see the following information about the computer labs:

  • Computer Lab Name.
  • Number of computers (Total).
  • Number (and percentage) of available computers.
  • Settings Button located on the right.



Computer Lab Menu

To get to a specific computer lab menu, click on the Name of the computer lab you will like to view.

A computer lab's menu contains the following tabs:

  • View all labs Button.
  • Location Settings Button.
  • Refresh Button.
  • Show only computers free - By checking this, you will only see the available computers.

A computer lab's menu contains the following for each computer:

  • Computer Name (when in use, it shows the Name of the User signed in)
  • IP address.
  • Border color (Red if the computer is currently being used and green if available).
  • Delete Button.
  • Usage Details Button (Only appears if the computer is in use).

Computer Options

Each computer has specific options; to get to these options, click on the computer name when on a computer lab's menu.

A computers option menu includes the following:

  • Name- Use this field to type in a name for this computer.
  • Location- select a Location from the list.
  • IP Address- Type-in the IP for this machine.
  • MAC Address- Type in here the MAC Address for the machine.
  • Details- Use this text field to enter details/descriptions about this machine.

When you are done, click on Save to continue.



Usage Details

By clicking on the Usage Details button of a specific computer, you will be able to see its activity.

Then you will be directed to the Edit Session Log page.

General Information

The general information section lets you view/edit the following information:

  • User: Name of the User. (has the option of the User unknown).
  • Signed-in as: Can be signed in as Attendee or Staff.
  • Role: Role option include Student and Tutor.
  • Location: Location where the computer is being used.
  • Course / Seminar: The computer can be assigned to a specific course or seminar (the course schedule can determine the log status)
  • Services: A service can be added to the computer lab session
  • Staff: A staff member can be assigned to the computer lab session.



Computer Information

The computer information shows information about the computer currently being used:

  • Computer Name-
  • Computer IP Address- An Internet Protocol address is a numerical label assigned to each device connected to a computer network that uses the Internet Protocol for communication. An IP address serves two main functions: host or network interface identification and location addressing.
  • Computer MAC Address- A media access control address is a unique identifier assigned to a network interface controller for use as a network address in communications within a network segment.



Computer Usage

This section of the usage details shows the user's applications or is using them while logged in.

  • PID: This is the ID of the application.
  • Start: Time when the application was opened.
  • End: Time when the application was closed.



In / Out

This section of the usage details shows the time that the User signed in/out; it also lets you modify these times if needed.

When finished, click Save Log to continue.

Comments

Comments can also be added to each log; write a comment next to New Comment and click on Save Comment when finished.

More Actions

Under the More Actions tab, one can Delete the Log if needed.

Tags

Tags can also be added to the log if needed.

Computer Lab Settings

There are two ways to get to a computer lab's settings:

  • Click on the Settings button on the right side of a computer lab
  • In a computer lab's menu, click on Location Settings

Once in the Computer Lab's setting menu, you will see the following:

From this menu will be able to:

  • Log out automatically if the screen saver is off
  • Log out after X minutes of inactivity- Please type in the # of minutes for the system to log out the User if inactivity is detected.
  • Do not allow sign-in from multiple stations
  • Track Applications used
  • Warn if session time exceeds X minutes - Please type in the # of minutes that need to pass for the system to show a warning.
Enable the option if you want to use this feature; leave it unchecked if you do not.

When finished setting up the settings, click on Save Settings to continue.

Logout of Computer Lab Plugin

To log out of the AccuCampus Computer Lab Plugin, we have to click on the ADMIN button in the lower-left corner of the screen.

After clicking on the button, a pop-up will appear; input the same credentials as the one we used to sign in and click LOGIN when you finish.
